Product Description
This is the 17th leader album (BLUE GLEAM Vol. 5) by Espen Barg (piano), a prodigy of modern jazz born in the naturally rich environment of Scandinavia (Norway). This album features Matthias Eick, one of the leading trumpeters of the renowned German label "ECM" and an exceptionally talented sound organizer. The free sonic dialogue between the two, who have deepened their mutual understanding through many years of collaboration, shines beautifully in the clear space of Scandinavia in this ambitious work. Includes bonus tracks exclusive to the Japanese edition. 1. Conversation #1 2. Fem 3. Luys 4. Conversation #2 5. Shape Of My Heart 6. Sinversation #1 7. Bl? 8. Sinversation #2.9. Our Song 10. Conversation #3 11. Gr?sj?en (Bonus track for Japanese Edition) This album consists of pieces written for a small ensemble and improvisations that emphasize the dialogue between the two musicians. The title "Miniatures" refers to the former, and "Conversations" refers to the latter, and both are high-quality pieces that reach the pinnacle of abstract beauty. Among them are beautiful solos by Espen, who has been hailed by numerous European media outlets as "an artist who carries on the legacy of Keith Jarrett," and the only cover, Sting's hit song "Shape Of My Heart," the theme song from the movie "L?on," adding variety to the album. This cover is also sampled in "Never Let Go," a track from Utada Hikaru's debut album "First Love," which holds the record for the highest-selling album in Japanese history. This song will be the main focus of the "Espen Barg X Matthias Eicke JAPAN TOUR 2026" to be held this December.
