About the Artist The oldest works by Chumei Watanabe, including radio songs and radio musicals for children, are now available on CD! Chumei Watanabe, currently enjoying great success with the music for the ongoing "Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger," will turn 96 on August 19, 2021. Since his debut as a composer, he has produced countless works. Now, a series has begun archiving recordings that he himself preserved. This time, the focus is on the CBC Radio music from his debut as a composer, and the works have been released on CD from SP records and open reel tapes. It is a treasure trove of beautiful melodies and lyrical music, including radio songs and radio musicals from over 60 years ago. While it's not appropriate to simply connect him to Chumei Watanabe, a disciple of Ikuma Dan, this melody and orchestration undeniably evoke a sense of the orthodox lineage of Japanese music! Now more than ever, I urge you to listen to it again. Please enjoy the origins of Chumei Watanabe, which connect to the Reiwa era. *Regarding master tapes and master sound sources: The master tapes were in remarkably good condition for being over 60 years old, so we have attempted to master them while preserving the original sound quality as much as possible. For the SP records, only cracked records were found for two tracks, so after playing them on a laser turntable, we digitally removed any skipping noise. There is some noise due to age-related deterioration. All recordings are in mono, but the high quality of the works, as well as the performance level and sound quality of the 1950s radio broadcasts, are particularly noteworthy. These will be valuable historical materials in various senses, including broadcast history, children's music history, and radio music history.
