Pasquale Grasso is a rising guitarist with amazing talent who truly loves bebop, including Bud Powell, Duke Ellington, and Tadd Dameron. Born into a music-loving family in Southern Italy, he grew up listening to jazz records such as Chet Baker, which his father played instead of television. He started playing guitar at a young age and grew up taking master classes from renowned masters who were active overseas. He also learned classical guitar techniques at the Bologna Conservatory, and then moved his base of operations to New York, where he won the Wes Montgomery International Guitar Competition held in New York in October 2015. In 2016, Pat Metheny mentioned Grasso in an interview with Guitar magazine, praising his talent and creativity as "the best guitarist I've ever heard," which brought him significant attention. In April 2018, he performed at the NEA Jazz Masters Tribute concert at the Kennedy Center. In 2019, he made his debut with Masterworks. Samara Joy is a student of Pasquale. In April 2025, they released the trio album "Farvancy." Their long-awaited first performance in Japan will take place at Blue Note Tokyo on August 25th and 26th.
