Steve Vai, the one and only genius known for his innovative and versatile guitar technique, created a cheerful, straightforward rock and roll album for bikers 30 years ago. The unreleased work "Vai/Gush" was recorded as a project with the late Johnny "Gush" Sombrot, a fellow biker of Vai's. Around 1990, motorcycle enthusiast Steve Vai felt an urge to create the kind of straightforward rock music he had listened to as a teenager immersed in biker culture. That's when he met Gash. Upon learning that Gash was also a singer, Vai felt drawn to him and asked him to sing biker-style songs. "That was the voice I'd been looking for. I was blown away." At the time, Vai was also working on the album "Sex and Religion" (with Gash contributing backing vocals), and had planned to record more than these eight tracks for a separate project in the future. However, in 1998, Gash passed away in a motorcycle accident. Thirty years later, these unexpected, previously unreleased recordings are finally being made public.
