Dream Theater, who won the "Best Metal Performance" award at the 64th Grammy Awards and headlined Download Japan 2022 in August, have once again demonstrated their presence as the kings of progressive metal. This is the "Lost Not Forgotten Archives" series, in which they regularly release rare recordings such as live performances, demos, and studio outtakes as official bootlegs. The 13th release in this series is a double-disc demo set of their early career masterpiece, the progressive metal classic "Images and Words," which propelled them to global fame. It includes numerous rare tracks, such as instrumentals, demos and pre-production recordings from when they moved to the ATCO label, and audition recordings of vocalists other than James LaBrie. Previously released as a limited edition on their own label, Ytsejam Records, it has now been reissued with the latest mastering and new artwork. The Japanese version is in high-quality Blu-spec CD2 format.
