Their 1976 album "Overture to Eternity" was a huge hit, selling over 4 million copies, and also produced the hit single "Inheritance." Their 5th original album, "Towing to Darkness," released in 1977, was also a huge hit. The single "All in the Wind" was a massive hit, solidifying the band's position. They disbanded in 1983 but reformed in 1986. Since then, they have continued to be active consistently, despite repeated member changes. They achieved great success with their "Overture to Eternity 40th Anniversary Tour" in 2016-17. The footage from that tour was released in 2017 as the live album "Left Overture Live & Beyond: 40th Anniversary Live of 'Eternal Overture'". From 2018 onwards, Kansas achieved even greater success with the "Towing to Darkness Anniversary Tour" that followed that tour. This album captures the atmosphere of that tour.
