"Western Stars," the 19th original album by The Boss, released in June 2019 and his first in five years, reached number 1 in the UK and number 2 in the US, and received widespread critical acclaim worldwide. This album has now been made into a concert documentary film (The Boss's directorial debut!). This film captures the live performance from that concert. Since there was no planned tour for this album, the decision was made to create a film featuring live performances of all the album's tracks, accompanied by visuals that express the world of the album. The Boss said: "I knew there wouldn't be a tour for this album. So I was thinking about how to get this work to the audience, and I thought this (film) was the best way. I'm looking forward to everyone seeing it." The Boss co-directed this film with his longtime collaborator Thom Zimny, and this marks Springsteen's directorial debut. It premiered at the 44th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
