Contents: SYD BARRETT PAPERSLEEVE COLLECTION (3) [Syd Barrett, first release by Sony, first BSCD2 paper sleeve!] A compilation of rare recordings made between 1968 and 1970, including unreleased tracks and alternate takes from his two solo albums. Released suddenly in 1988, 16 years after he abruptly disappeared from the scene in 1972. Title track "Opel," as well as "Dolly Rocker," "Word Song," "Swan Lee," "Birdie Hop," "Let's Split," "Ranky (Part 1)," and "Galaxy" make their first appearance here. Also included are valuable tracks and demo recordings such as "Clowns & Jugglers," recorded with members of Soft Machine as the original version of "Octopus," and "Don't You Lonely Without Me," an early take of "The Dark Side of the World." With the exception of a few tracks, he performs solo with just his acoustic guitar, but precisely because of this, the raw atmosphere and his pure soul come through, making it an incredibly special documentary. [Limited Edition] Limited edition paper jacket packaging, includes liner notes, lyrics, and translations.
