Debuted in 1966, and after serving as the resident singer for the Count Basie Orchestra, signed with the prestigious jazz label Blue Note in 1972. In 1975, Marina Shaw's album "Who Is This Bitch, Anyway?", backed by skilled musicians such as D.T. Walker, C. Rainey, L. Carlton, and H. Mason, transcended the boundaries of jazz and R&B, becoming a masterpiece with her supple vocals that continues to exert a tremendous influence on many female singers. She still frequently visits Japan for concerts.
