Daddy Was A Wolfman Chris O'Leary was born in 1968 in New York State. He joined the Marine Corps in 1986 and was deployed to the Middle East. After leaving the military, he went to university in New York and formed a band. Fortunately, he caught the eye of Levon Helm, and they frequently performed together. In 1997, he was selected as the frontman of the house band at Levon's New Orleans club. After the club closed in 1999, he played for six years as a member of Levon Helm & The Barnburners. In 2003, he participated in Hubert Sumlin's "About Them Shoes" (featuring Keith Richards, James Cotton, and others). However, he suffered from vocal problems and took a seven-year break from music, working as a police officer. After his comeback in 2010, he made a late solo debut with the album "Mr. Used To Be" on Bob Margolin's label. The album received critical acclaim, winning the New Artist Award at the Blues Music Awards and the Blues Blast Awards. Since then, he has consistently released albums such as "Waiting For the Phone To Ring" in 2012 and "7 Minutes Late" in 2019. Then, he signed with Alligator Records and released "The Hard Line" in 2024.
