Mud's Groove Mad Morganfield was born in 1954 as the eldest son of Muddy Waters. He grew up on Chicago's West Side, watching his charismatic father. He made a living as a truck driver and began singing after his father's death in 1983, but never performed on stage professionally (his younger brother, Big Bill, debuted earlier). Then, in 2007, he finally appeared before blues fans worldwide at the Chicago Blues Festival, receiving great acclaim for his striking resemblance to his father in both appearance and voice. In 2008, he released his self-produced debut album, "Fall Waters Fall," and toured across the US and Europe, becoming an overnight sensation. In 2012, he signed with the blues label Severn Records and made his worldwide debut with his second album, "Son of the Seventh Sun." In 2013, he released "The Blues Is In My Blood" on a European label, and in 2014, his collaboration with Kim Wilson, "For Pops: Tribute to Muddy Waters," won a Blues Music Award. He has since released "They Call Me Mud" in 2018 and "Portrait" on Delmark in 2022.
