From a young age, he participated in the Delta Blues Museum's educational program. He learned guitar by listening to legends like Robert Johnson, B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Jimi Hendrix, and Prince. He showed early talent, performing as a child prodigy in his mid-teens at local clubs and various events. This caught the attention of Tony Coleman and Bootsy Collins, and he gained recognition by collaborating with Eric Gales and others. In 2019, he signed with Alligator Records and released his debut album, "Kingfish," featuring Keb' Mo' and Buddy Guy. It reached number one on the Billboard Blues chart, received rave reviews from many media outlets, won a Blues Music Award, and was nominated for a Grammy. His second album, "662," released in 2021, won a Grammy. On large-scale world tours, he has opened not only for blues artists but also for renowned rock musicians such as the Rolling Stones and Vampire Weekend.
