Following her 1973 album 'Cameo,' released in the early 1970s after Dusty Springfield signed with ABC/Dunhill in search of a new career, the legendary album 'Longing' (recorded in 1974), which was supposed to be released, has been remastered and released for the first time with its original jacket! The songs were introduced on compilation albums in the 2000s, but this is the first time they have been released as a standalone album. She debuted in 1958 as part of the Lana Sisters. Later, in 1960, she formed The Springfields with her brother Tom. Their song "Dear John" from Phillips became a huge hit. In 1962, she won an Emmy Award in the United States. In 1963, she released "I Only Want To Be With You" as a solo artist. It quickly climbed the charts, and she continued to have consistent hits thereafter. In 1967, she was nominated for an Academy Award for "The Look of Love," the theme song for the James Bond film. In 1969, she signed with Atlantic Records and released "Dusty In Memphis," produced by Tom Dowd and others. Although the full-fledged R&B album was highly praised by critics, it was a commercial failure, and she continued to have fewer hits, gradually succumbing to alcohol and drug addiction. She made a comeback in 1978, but again failed to have a hit, and finally made her long-awaited comeback to the charts with a duet with the Pet Shop Boys in 1987. She continued to work steadily after that, but was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1994 and died in 1999.
