Suter is a blues and soul singer-songwriter born in Brooklyn, New York in 1963. She debuted in 1990 with the single "Slam Me Baby" as the first Black woman to sign with Epic/Sony. Her powerful vocals became a hot topic, and the song became a hit in the club music scene and was included in various compilations. In 2005, she made her solo debut with the album "Shuga Fix". Her intense live performances caught the eye of Levon Helm, and she began to open for him. Subsequently, under the band name, she released albums such as "Live at the Midnight Ramble" in 2006 and "Just Another Fool" in 2008. Her 2014 album "Love the Way You Roll" earned her a nomination for the Koko Taylor Award at the Blues Music Awards. Since then, she has consistently released albums both with the band and as a solo artist, including "All For Loving You" in 2016, "Hat Trick" in 2017, and "Be Love" in 2019. She has also opened for artists such as B.B. King and Etta James and performed at numerous festivals.
