There?fs A Light Up Ahead Alison Krauss is a bluegrass/country fiddler and vocalist born in Illinois in 1971. In 1985, she made her first recording with her brother Victor on "Different Strokes." She signed with Rounder Records and made her solo debut in 1987 at the age of 16 with "Too Late to Cry." In 1989, she was nominated for a Grammy for "Two Highways" under the name Alison Krauss & Union Station (AKUS). After that, she released albums alternately as a solo artist and with AKUS, winning various Grammy Awards with each release (27 wins, the most for a female artist). In the 2000s, she also began working as a producer, working with Nickel Creek and others, and as a solo artist, she has collaborated and made guest appearances with many artists across genres, including Dolly Parton, Bonnie Raitt, and Diane Schuhr. In particular, her 2007 collaboration with Robert Plant, "Raising Sand," was a huge hit and swept up numerous music awards, including Grammys. Now, as AKSU, she is releasing her first album in 14 years since 2011's "Paper Airplane" and will be embarking on a US tour.
