Heaven Help Us All Shemekia Copeland was born in New York in 1979. His father is Texas blues guitarist Johnny Copeland. At the age of 16, he opened for his father on tour. Upon graduating from high school, he signed with Alligator Records and debuted in 1998 with "Turn the Heat Up!". His 2000 second album, "Wicked," which featured Ruth Brown, won a Blues Music Award (BMA). Furthermore, she released a series of acclaimed albums, including "Talking to Strangers" in 2002, produced by Dr. John, and "The Soul Truth" in 2005, produced by Steve Cropper. After that, she moved to Telarc and released "Never Going Back" in 2009 and "33 1/3" in 2012, winning another BMA award. She has also performed at numerous blues festivals in the US and Europe, earning her the title of Queen of the Blues. She later returned to Alligator and has consistently released albums such as "Outskirts of Love" in 2015 and "Done Come Too Far" in 2022, receiving Grammy and BMA nominations and wins with each release.
