Along with the Grammy Award-winning albums released posthumously, "Genius Loves Company (2004)", "Genius & Friend (2005)", and "Rare Genius: The Undiscovered Masters (2010)", "Ray Sings, Basie Swings" was released in 2006 as part of the "Genius Series" (it was reissued in 2022 by Ray's own label, Tangerine Records, but is currently difficult to obtain in Japan), and is now being re-released in Japanese specifications! The original recordings are from a 1973 concert featuring Ray Charles with Count Basie, and this album is a pseudo-collaboration that mixes Ray's previously unreleased vocal performances on selected classic songs with newly recorded instrumental tracks by the modern Count Basie Orchestra.
