Murder Most Foul Laurie Brock was born in Manhattan, NY in 1949. During the 1960s folk, skiffle, and jug boom, she spent her youth with Stephen Grossman, Geoff Muldaur, John Sebastian, and others. Since then, she has been active as a leading female acoustic blues guitarist. She is also highly regarded as a singer-songwriter and has released many pop albums on Rounder. Her 2006 Robert Johnson tribute album, "Lady & Mr. Johnson," won a Blues Music Award. Since then, as part of her "Mentor Tribute Series," she has released tribute albums to Son House (2008), Fred McDowell (2011), Reverend Gary Davis (2012), John Hurt (2013), Skip James (2014), and Bukka White (2016). Then, starting in 2018, she released three albums as part of a new series called "Power Women of the Blues," including "A Woman's Soul: A Tribute to Bessie Smith."
