There Goes That Train Canned Heat was formed in 1966 in L.A. by Al Wilson (guitar, harmonica, vocals) and Bob Hite (harmonica, vocals), both avid blues scholars. The band was named Canned Heat after a song by pre-war country blues artist Tommy Johnson. They gained attention at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967 and debuted that same year with their album "Canned Heat," quickly becoming a top group. They went on to perform at numerous festivals that have left their mark on rock history, including Woodstock. Their 1970 collaboration with John Lee Hooker, "Hooker'n Heat," is considered their masterpiece, and they have also recorded albums with Memphis Slim and Gatemouth Brown. Of the original members, Bob Hite, Alan Wilson, and Henry Vestein have all passed away. Sadly, with the exception of drummer Adolfo "Fito" de la Parra, none of the original members remain, but despite numerous member changes, they continue to carry on their blues spirit and perform live for many fans around the world.
