The album features songs that skillfully incorporate actual speeches and letters, drawing on her own experiences and offering a contemporary perspective on women's rights, particularly focusing on women's suffrage. The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll. Eefa O'Donovan was born in Massachusetts in 1982. At the age of 17, she joined the Bluegrass Power Quintet. His first recording was on Wayfaring Strangers' "This Train" (2003). Simultaneously, he released "Hop High" in 2004 with the bluegrass band Crooked Still. He continued to release music consistently but the band went on hiatus in 2011. Afterward, he released his first solo single, "Blue Light." He also provided vocals on Yo-Yo Ma and Chris Thile's album "The Goat Rodeo Sessions." In 2013, he released his first album, "Fossils," on YepRoc, followed by "In the Magic Hour" in 2016. In 2015, he toured Japan as part of the unit I'm With Her with Sarah Watkins and Sarah Jarroz, and in 2018, he released the album "See You Around" on Rounder. His 2019 single "Call My Name" won a Grammy for American Roots Song. In 2020, he released the EP "Bull Frogs Croon," and in 2022, "Age of Apathy," both of which were nominated for Grammys.
