(C)RS About the Artist: Gordon Campbell was born in New Haven, Connecticut, and raised in New York State. He began playing drums at his grandfather's church at the age of five, where his grandfather was a pastor, and honed his skills in a gospel band. Later, he studied music seriously, mastering keyboards and bass. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree from Howard University and began his career as a professional musician. Around that time, he became close friends with contemporaries such as Robert "Sput" Searight and Doobie Powell. In 1993, he participated in a tour with Shai, the R&B group that was all the rage at the time. This led him to move to LA, and he became a sought-after musician, being invited to tour with famous artists of various genres, including Earth, Wind & Fire, George Duke, Herbie Hancock, Mary J. Blige, and Eric Ben?t. At the same time, he also honed his skills as a producer and director, serving as music director for many films and TV shows, including the hit movie "Dreamgirls." He currently serves as director for Def Jam artist Ne-Yo. Having been active in the LA music and entertainment industry for 20 years, he is now finally releasing his first solo album.
