About the Artist: Bruce Hornsby was born in Virginia in 1954. After graduating from the University of Miami, he moved to LA and worked as a film composer and studio musician. In 1984, he formed Bruce Hornsby and the Range, which was discovered by Huey Lewis, leading to a contract with RCA Records in 1985. Their debut album, "The Way It Is," released in 1986, went platinum, with the title track reaching number one in the US, and winning a Grammy for Best New Artist. After releasing two more albums, the band disbanded. From 1990 onwards, he built his career as a member of the Grateful Dead, and also participated in albums by Don Henley, Bob Dylan, CS&N, and others. In 1992, he co-produced Leon Russell's "Anything Can Happen." In 1993, his first solo album, "Harbor Lights," which showed a strong inclination towards jazz, won a Grammy Award. Since then, he has continued to use different bands depending on the genre, such as The Noisemakers and The Bruce Hornsby Trio, and has been active in a unique way across rock, jazz, bluegrass, blues, and classical music. His latest album, "Absolute Zero," released in 2019, also received high praise.
