About the Artist: Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1962. Influenced by her mother, she listened to jazz and blues from a young age and picked up a guitar at age 7. She started a band at 16 and began her professional career at 19. In 1984, at the age of 22, she moved to Chicago, the heartland of the blues, and honed her guitar skills by performing in clubs with Junior Wells, Buddy Guy, James Cotton, and others. She then signed with the long-established label Blind Pig and debuted in 1989 with "Believe It!". She attracted attention as a young and beautiful female guitarist. She consistently released her second album "Fight" in 1992 and "Slidetime" in 1998, solidifying her position as the queen of blues-rock guitar. In 2002, she released "The Joanna Connor Band" on MC Records. In 2003, she released "Mercury Blues," an unusual collaboration with the Mercury Ensemble, but after that, she distanced herself from the scene. In the 2010s, she gradually resumed her activities. Now, she performs not only in Chicago clubs but also at festivals around the world. In 2016, she released "Six String Stories" after a long hiatus, marking a successful comeback.
