About the Artist: The Rubinoos were formed in 1970 in Berkeley, California, by high school classmates Tommy Dunbar and John Rubin. They gradually gained popularity and signed with Beserkley Records, founded after the breakup of Earthquake, the band they had opened for. They debuted in 1977 with "The Rubinoos." The album was lauded by music magazines as a masterpiece of power pop, and their cover of "I Think We're Alone Now" reached number 45 on the Billboard charts. Their 1979 second album, "Back to the Drawing Board," featured the original song "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend," which garnered significant airplay and became a major hit. They appeared on various TV shows and programs. In 1983, they released the EP "Party of Two," produced by Todd Rundgren, but the band went on hiatus. After a break, they reunited in 1999 with "Paleophonic." Since then, they have toured in Spain and Japan and consistently released albums. They have visited Japan four times since 2002, and their latest live album from Japan, "Night of All Covers," was released in 2018.
