About the Artist: The credits include Fred Tackett, Jesse Ed Davis, Dean Parks, Jay Graydon, Albert Lee on guitar; Jeff Porcaro, Jim Gordon, Jim Keltner on drums; Joe Osborn, Paul Stallworth, and Herb Pederson on bass; and singer Clydie King. As the lineup suggests, it's a bridging group from the so-called Wrecking Crew, who were active from the 60s, to the musicians who were active in the late 70s AOR era. With cover songs making up the majority of the tracks, the focus is on Susan's vocals, her clear voice, and the band ensemble that makes the most of it, rather than relying on the potential of the songs themselves, the singer's individuality, or artistic power. In other words, it's a work that is typical of the mid-70s, characterized by a man who is a blend of various musical elements. A singer-songwriter who plays and sings, and then dons jazz and soul motifs to enhance his sophistication and broaden his range of expression. This is a work that is in that process. As the last two tracks are suite-like, Jimmy's arrangements and production enhance the album's completeness, but at the same time, it is not 100% constructed, and the warmth and endearingness that Susan herself possesses are gently conveyed, and this mild pre-AOR sensibility is the key to this album.
