"Music for Museum Gift Shops" is a piano-only recollection of melodies born from 20 years of adventurous activity by Nagoya-based band Lullatone. The 52 melodies are played delicately and simply, radiating a beautiful brilliance. The recording, created in a warm, intimate, and cozy space, complements the innocence of their previously released albums. This is Lullatone, now fully grown up?melodies that feel like everyday classical music, created while spending time at home with their two children and helping them with their homework, without being overly pretentious. You could call it handmade classical music. It's an album that feels like a cheerful Erik Satie, a more delicate Goldmund or Hauschka, or a Wes Anderson film soundtrack shot in dappled sunlight. Recently, Lullatone has been creating film soundtracks and music for television commercials for many companies, including Google and Volkswagen. This album is different from those activities; it's a project where I tried to create a more personal soundtrack. It's an album made for the little everyday things like cycling to the library, slowly making breakfast on the weekend, studying a foreign language, or browsing books in a museum gift shop.
