Content Introduction Incognito's side project, Citrus Sun, releases their first new album in two years, featuring soul/jazz-funk classics covers and groovy instrumental tunes that embody the characteristics of "acid jazz," keeping listeners moving! More mobile than the larger Incognito group of over 10 members, and with a clearer "acid jazz" stance, Citrus Sun is a project that covers soul/jazz-funk classics while primarily focusing on instrumental originals. This latest album, titled after Ronnie Liston Smith's "Expansion," a timeless floor staple and jazz-funk/garage/loft classic, naturally includes Citrus Sun's "modern jazz"-flavored cover of the song, as well as a cover of the famous "California Soul," penned by Ashford & Simpson and known for Marlena Shaw's take ('68). Jim Mullen makes a return appearance as a guest on the album! A mix of hard and soft, sometimes heavy grooves, sometimes mellow original tunes, perfect for listening to on repeat in the car on the way to a beach surrounded by azure skies and cobalt green seas! About the Artist Bluey, himself a guitarist, started this project in 2000 out of respect for Jim Mullen, a treasure of the British jazz scene who plays an Aria full-acoustic guitar with a casually superb thumb-picking technique directly descended from Wes Montgomery. The project became more active in the 2010s, and after releasing their second album "People of Tomorrow" in 2014, they have been in high demand at jazz festivals and have toured Japan for four consecutive years from 2015 to 2018, making them a popular project. The Incognito band's regular members include the impenetrable bottom line of Francis Hilton (bass), Francesco Mendoria (drums), the genius keyboardist Matt Cooper (keyboards), Francisco Sales (guitar), who could be described as a "young Al Di Meola," and Master Bluey (guitar), with several "cogs" joining in depending on the song.
