Product Description Contents: This is the fifth studio album overall and the first in six years from the six-member Italian symphonic metal band "Ancient Birds." DISC 1 is the studio album with bonus tracks, while DISC 2 contains instrumental versions of the songs from DISC 1, creating a work that allows listeners to fully enjoy the fantasy worldview that is central to their concept. This album, "Artifex," is the fifth installment in the "Black Crystal Sword Saga" story that began with their debut EP, and it is finally complete. Ancient Birds was formed in Italy in 2007 by keyboardist Daniele Mazza, based on the concept of expressing stories from Norse mythology and the famous Final Fantasy series of RPGs through music. The band started as a six-piece, with Daniele being replaced by Martino Garrattoni (B), Sara Squadrani (Vo), Claudio Pietronic (G), Fabio Balducci (G), and Alessandro Calichini (Ds). They released their 1st EP, "Trailer of the Black Crystal Sword Saga," in 2008, which garnered high praise from various quarters. Using this as a springboard, they increased their recognition through numerous live performances in Japan and successfully secured a contract with "LIMB MUSIC PRODUCTS." Riding on this momentum, the band began recording their debut album. In 2010, "The Alliance Of The Kings" was completed, marking their major label debut. At this point, the drummer changed from Alessandro to Federico Gatti, but they quickly released their 2nd album, "Soulless Child," the following year. In 2014, they released their 3rd album, "A New Dawn Ending," the third and final part of the first chapter of "The Black Crystal Sword Saga" series. However, guitarist Fabio left the band before its release, leaving them as a five-member group. The band continued their activities with a support guitarist. In 2016, they made their first visit to Japan at JAPANESE ASSAULT FEST 16. And this year, 2018, with the announcement of their 4th album, "Origine - The Black Crystal Sword Saga part2," which marks the beginning of the second chapter of "The Black Crystal Sword Saga" series, the addition of new guitarist Simone Bartozzi was announced, and the band started anew as a six-member group once again. They are heavily influenced by fellow band Rhapsody (of Fire), who also employ the technique of depicting a single concept (story) across multiple albums.
