Contents: The band started in the early 1980s when Stevie Blaze (G) joined Oz, a band active in New Orleans. In 1987, former Stiff members Ron Taylor (Vo), John Starr (G), and Rob Stratton (B) teamed up with Lillian Axe members Stevie Blaze (G) and Danny King (Dr) to form a classic lineup. The band caught the attention of Ratt's management, signed a record deal with MCA, and Ratt's Robin Crosby produced the band's first album, "Lillian Axe." Their next album, "Love and War," did not meet commercial expectations, and their contract with MCA Records was terminated. The band moved to Grand Slamm/I.R.S. Records, and their 1992 release, "Poetic Justice," featured Darren de Latt (B) and former Dirty Looks member Gene Bannet (Dr) in place of Rob Stratton and Danny King. The album reached number 28 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers and included the single "True Believer" and the famous ballad "The Promised Land," becoming the band's most successful album to date. Also on the same day, Lillian Axe's new album, "From Woom to Tomb," is scheduled for release. The lineup offers a chance to enjoy her past masterpieces while also appreciating her current work.
