Reflecting on their own growth, they have returned to being a family of three and created their fourth album, "A La Sala," solely as a band. "A La Sala" is themed around the band returning to the place where they record. The album was recorded in Steve Christensen's (engineer) warehouse (Terminal C) and has a living room-like feel. Even if they can't completely return to their starting point emotionally, after the pandemic and their collaborative album, the band felt it was really necessary to go home. There was also the theme of family. Everything had become so massive?live shows, promotions, etc.?that they felt it was right to return to being a family of three and take an emotional recording process. "A La Sala" is the title of a song from their previous dub album, but Laura always shouted it when gathering people in the living room. It's a symbol of unity. This marks the first time the band has worked on a project together since 2019. It's also their first album without Will van Horn (pedal steel) and their first ever album without any guest appearances. Like a pendulum, sooner or later, it had to swing to the other side. Musically and thematically, they aimed to express the warmth of a living room through sound. The song titles are all very specific, yet open to the listener's interpretation. Visually, the window was the focal point of the living room?a space for daydreaming, which forms a visual connection throughout the album (the cover art, etc.). The Houston-based trio (Laura Lee Ochoa on bass, Mark Speer on guitar, and Donald �gDJ�h Johnson on drums), Khruangbin, toured for nearly three and a half years until the summer of 2019, alongside their two albums, 'The Universe Smiles Upon You' and 'Con Todo El Mundo'. Afterward, he returned to his studio on his farm in Burton, Texas, and began working on his third album, "Mordechai." Released in June 2020, "Mordechai" reached number 31 on the US charts and number 7 on the UK charts. It also charted in various countries in Europe, Oceania, and Asia, achieving great success. In the meantime, in 2020, he released the collaborative EP "Texas Sun" with Leon Bridges, followed by its sequel, "Texas Moon," in 2022. He also collaborated with Malian guitarist Vieux Farka Tour?, releasing the album "Ali" in 2022, which paid tribute to Vieux's late father, Ali Farka Tour?. Meanwhile, in 2022, the band embarked on their largest tour to date, including legendary performances at the Greek Theatre in LA, Radio City Music Hall in New York, and Alexandra Palace in London.
