There is a sense of tension in this album, and Friko attributes part of the reason to a fundamental change in the production process. Produced by Grammy Award winner John Congleton (St. Vincent, Mannequin Pussy, Mogwai, Angel Olsen) and recorded in his Los Angeles studio, 'Something Worth Waiting For' is a sonically rich and emotionally poignant work. "On our first album, we were more deeply involved in the technical aspects in every way, but this time John clearly told us, 'Just come and do your own thing.' I think that allowed us to express ourselves more freely than ever before. As a result, we were able to capture something very raw," says Minzenberger. 'Something Worth Waiting For' is Friko's first release featuring Robb and Fuller, who joined the band in the midst of their debut album's world tour. This tour included headlining shows in North America, the UK, Europe, and across Asia (including a performance at Fuji Rock Festival in Japan), and also featured tours with important alternative rock artists such as The Flaming Lips and Modest Mouse. As their lineup expanded, Kapetan and Minzenberger found the ideal partners who perfectly complemented their instinctively harmonious yet voracious creativity. "We spent a lot of time discussing the songs and paying attention to the details. This project is truly special to each of us because our deep love for music permeates every bone," says Fuller. In creating the new album, they drew inspiration from their continuous work over the past two years, arriving at a collection of pieces that speak to a more existential movement. "If the overall theme of this album is 'transit,' then the title captures the idea of ??constantly moving forward towards something that can never be reached," says Kapetan. "It may sound pessimistic, but perhaps reaching the destination isn't necessarily the goal. I think life isn't about constantly striving to achieve one specific thing, but rather about the world constantly expanding as new experiences come into play," adds Minzenberger. Looking to the future, Friko speaks of hope. "There's been a lot of change and growth since our first album, and I think that will continue. When you try something new, there's usually a lot of fear and anxiety involved, but we just want to stay as authentic as possible and keep making what feels true to us," says Minzenberger. A newcomer to Chicago's long lineage of cutting-edge indie rock, Friko fuses elements of post-punk, chamber pop, and experimental rock. Their ensemble and vocals amplify the exhilarating power of their sound. Their debut album, "Where we've been, Where we go from here," with its poetic, explosive, and raw feeling, garnered phenomenal praise from the general public, with the album briefly reaching number 2 on the AOTY chart and the single "Where we've been" reaching number 1. Here in Japan, it also created an unprecedented buzz, rising to an extraordinary 11th place on Apple Music's Top Albums chart.
