'New Energy' is the ninth studio album by British electronic musician Kieran Hebden, released on September 29, 2017, under the name Four Tet by Text Records. The tracks were written and produced by Hebden himself. Created on a laptop computer, the music was edited using Ableton Live software, which controlled/mixed VST plugins and edited audio recordings. Plugins such as Omnisphere, Kontakt, Dexed, and Arturia V Collection were used for sound generation. Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith handled the synthesizer programming for "LA Trance." Tom Baker played the hangs on "Lush." This album adopts a more upbeat and accessible style than previous Four Tet works, incorporating elements of diverse musical styles and the recreation of virtual instruments with cultural coloration.
