London-born, Athens-based artist Westerman will release his long-awaited second album, "An Inbuilt Fault," in May 2023 via Partisan Records/Play It Again Sam. "An Inbuilt Fault" condenses Westerman's most adventurous and self-conscious songwriting to date, and the sound is heavier and bolder than his previous releases. In 2020/2021, Westerman was working solo after a period of isolation in Italy, but a chance encounter with James Krivchenia of Big Thief at a live show in London changed everything. Westerman decided to collaborate with this drummer and his Los Angeles friends to flesh out the new song. The Italian demo became the starting point for the jam, and the imaginatively edited form pushed the song into new emotional realms, creating a mood that was sometimes more ominous, sometimes more triumphant. In 2020, Westerman released his debut album, "Your Hero Is Not Dead," which followed the critically acclaimed EP "Ark."
