The new album from Pennsylvania-born riff titans Crobot, "Obsidian," is their most introspective journey to date. The album was self-produced by the band and completed at The Machine Shop studio in Austin, Texas, with engineering, mixing, and mastering by Alberto De Icaza. It dives into the deep, murky waters of humanity, weaving together ancient myths and personal demons. The band's main songwriters, Bishop and Yaegley, tend to deliberately leave their songs somewhat ambiguous, but the songs on this album touch upon very personal growth, struggles, and introspection. "Every song vividly reflects inner turmoil, with heavy, pulsating beats and bursting guitar solos set to relentless rhythms. 'Obsidian' is like a rebirth of our career. We were able to take a different approach to songwriting and recording than before, so this experience was very rewarding and different from past projects. Conflict and reflection, even if they are dark moments, make you a better person. I think that's what symbolizes this album as a whole for us. It was a real breath of fresh air," says Bishop.
