Contents Introduction Shura, a London-based producer/singer whose song "Touch," self-released in 2014 (re-released in 2016), currently boasts over 30 million views on YouTube, has released her long-awaited second album, "Forevher," three years after her debut album "Nothing's Real," released by Polydor in 2016, now on Secretly Canadian! Shura is the solo project of Aleksandra Denton, born and raised in Manchester, UK, with a Russian actress mother and a British documentary filmmaker father. She started playing guitar at age 13 and recording at age 16, and began her career in 2011 with the self-release of her debut album. In 2014, she self-released "Touch," which has now been viewed over 30 million times on YouTube (later re-released in 2016 by Polydor, with whom she signed a contract). In 2015, she was selected for BBC Music Sound of 2015, and the following year, 2016, she released her debut album, "Nothing's Real," through Polydor. Following the tour for "Nothing's Real," she created her second album, "Forevher," three years after her previous work. After an eight-week US tour, she stayed in Minneapolis for 10 days with guitarist Luke Saunders, where the production of this album began. In this album, Shura recounts her own experiences of a long-distance relationship between New York and London, filtered through modern elements such as dating apps and Skype chats (Shura first met her current girlfriend online while staying in Minneapolis after a tour, and their relationship began). The blossoming of romance, the joy of being together?how to live and love as a queer person?has always been an essential theme for Shura, but these stories/themes draw on influences and inspirations from various artists such as Joni Mitchell, Minnie Riperton, The Internet, and Prince (as evident in the pre-release track "religion (u can lay your hands on me)," this album is heavily influenced by the "Minneapolis sound" pioneered by Prince in Minneapolis, where she met her current girlfriend).
