The chillwave pioneer's fourth album overall, 'Purple Noon', is now released. Produced by Washed Out, mixed by Ben Allen (Gnarls Berkeley, Animal Collective, Walk the Moon, etc.). Washed Out is the project of Atlanta-based producer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Ernest Greene. 'Purple Noon', his fourth album and his return to Sub Pop, is once again entirely written, recorded, and produced by Greene himself. The mixing was handled by Ben H. Allen, who worked on 'Paracosm' and 'Within and Without'. The album's creation followed his writing work for other artists such as Sudan Archives, allowing Greene to explore genres such as R&B and modern pop. The songs Greene provided to others were brighter and richer, and these elements were incorporated into "Purple Noon," creating a new chapter for Greene as a producer/songwriter. Vocals are placed at the center, the tempo is slower, and the beats are bold, resulting in a work that feels comprehensively deep through its dynamics. The Mediterranean coastline inspired "Purple Noon." Greene pays homage to the unique island culture of the region and uses it as the backdrop for the work. The album title is derived from the 1960 film directed by Rene Clement and is based on Patricia Highsmith's novel "The Talented Mister Ripley."
