About the Artist Oakland's Fantastic Negrito, a two-time Grammy winner, will release his new album, "Have You Lost Your Mind Yet?", on August 14, 2020, via Cooking Vinyl/Blackball Universe. The first single from the album is "Chocolate Samurai," released in March 2020, and the second single is "How Long?". "Have You Lost Your Mind Yet?" is inspired by socio-political albums by African Americans from the late 60s and 70s, and is her most ambitious album to date. "My first two albums were about a wide range of topics, including the spread of gun violence, the evil NRA, gentrification, homelessness, and pharmaceutical companies that prey on people. With this album, I wanted to write about the people I've met, the people I grew up with, the people who might influence my life, and the people who have influenced my life. It was the most difficult album I've ever made," says Negrito. Widely known as a talented bluesman, Negrito blends elements from various genres, including hip-hop, R&B, funk, soul, and rock and roll, on this album. She showcases her extraordinary musical versatility on tracks like "Searching for Captain Save a Hoe," featuring Bay Area rapper E-40, and "I'm So Happy I Cry," featuring Tank and her New Orleans soul band, Tank and The Bangas. Xavier Dphrepaulezz, also known as Fantastic Negrito, currently boasts 80 million streams. He is a singer-songwriter from Oakland, California, whose sound is based on Black roots music. He began his music career as a teenager while working as a drug dealer. Living in an environment where he was constantly on the brink of death, including being attacked with a gun, he signed with Interscope in 1993. In 1995, he released the album "The X Factor" under the name Xavier. In 1999, he suffered life-threatening injuries in a car accident and took a break from music, but in 2014 he started playing on the streets of Oakland again. In 2015 he won the first NPR "Tiny Desk Concert," and in 2016 he released his debut album "The Last Days of Oakland." The album received critical acclaim and ultimately won Best Contemporary Blues Album at the 59th Grammy Awards.
