About the Artist: A record label founded in 1961 by Doris Parker, Charlie Parker's third wife and legal heir, and Aubrey Mayhew, producer at Pickwick Records, known for its Sachord reissue (repack) series. Established after Parker's death to bring to light Parker's unreleased recordings, the label not only released Parker's music but also produced new recordings of contemporary modern jazz. Works such as Duke Jordan's "Blues on a Dangerous Liaison" and Cecil Payne's "Connection" are particularly well-known to jazz fans. The label also acquired recordings from other companies and released them as its own, including rare albums by Art Pepper and Pete Jolly, making it a noteworthy label from the golden age of modern jazz that includes many albums other than Parker's works for jazz fans.
