About the Artist: This record label was founded in 1961 by Doris Parker, Charlie Parker's third wife and legal heir, and Aubrey Mayhew, producer at Pickwick Records, known for its reissue (repack) series of Sachord recordings. It was established to release Parker's unreleased recordings that had been dormant since Parker's death, but it has also produced new recordings of modern jazz of the time. Duke Jordan's "Blues on Dangerous Liaisons" and Cecil Payne's "Connection" are particularly well-known works among jazz fans. The label also acquired recordings from other companies and released them as its own, including rare albums by Art Pepper and Pete Jolly, making it a noteworthy label from the golden age of modern jazz, offering many albums beyond those by Parker for jazz fans.
