Bugge Wesseltoft, a Norwegian keyboardist who runs the label JAZZLAND and is considered one of the most important figures in future jazz, and Dan Berglund (bass) and Magnus Ostr?m (drums), who were in charge of the rhythm section of the legendary Swedish unit E.S.T., have launched a new unit "Limden," named after a word meaning "universe." With the addition of three bonus tracks, the album showcases music influenced by Bach, modern jazz, film scores, and rock, based on three elements: melancholic melodies, dramatically changing rhythms, and top-level jazz performance. [Limden] Formed in 2017, they debuted at the internationally renowned Norwegian jazz festival "Nat Jazz" in Bergen. Their performances have been well-received at various Nordic festivals they have participated in. In October 2019, they released their long-awaited first album, "Reflection and Oddsays." "Limden" means "space" in Swedish, and their music is based on three elements that value space. The first is melancholic and atmospheric songwriting, the second is dramatic rhythm arrangements, and the third is masterful improvisation. Wesseltoft plays not only piano but also Fender Rhodes, playing the role of the main soloist in the trio, but his arrangements incorporate sophisticated counterpoint techniques. The trio's musical style is characterized by its deep, relaxed atmosphere reminiscent of a film, while drawing influences from contemporary jazz, Johann Sebastian Bach, and rock. This album is a masterpiece that allows listeners to experience the cutting edge of Scandinavian jazz. A Japan tour is scheduled for October 2019.
