Product Description Ana Carla Masa, who has garnered attention in Europe, the US, and Japan for her unique and minimalist cello-accompanied singing, presents her fourth album, a deeper exploration of her musical roots in the Caribbean and Central and South America, centered around Cuba, through a band sound. Born and raised in Cuba, Ana Carla Masa's father, Carlos Masa (then only one year old), fled Chile under Pinochet's military dictatorship and moved to Cuba via France in 1975, and her Cuban mother, Milsa Sierra, grew up surrounded by music from a young age, with both parents being musicians. She first received piano lessons from Miriam Vald?s, Chucho Vald?s' sister, and naturally picked up the cello. After learning the fundamentals of music in Cuba, she moved with her family to Tarragona (Catalonia) in 2007 at the age of 12. While continuing her musical studies at the Conservatoire ? rayonnement r?gional de Paris and the Sorbonne University in Paris, France, she also continued her musical activities. Through her activities, she has been exposed to various musical styles such as classical, jazz, Arabic music, and electronica, broadening her range of talent and arriving at her current unique style. This album further develops her passion for Caribbean and Central American music, centered on Cuba, which she demonstrated in her previous work, "Bahia." Until now, she had released albums based on cello solos, but in this album, she has fully developed a band sound. She handled the arrangement and production of all the songs herself. Supporting Ana Carla Masa's cello and vocals are two Cubans on percussion and saxophone & flute, a Guadeloupean on drums, and also a German and a Frenchman?a lineup unique to her, who is based in France. The sound produced by this internationally diverse group of members is fresh and appealing, and is distinctly different from Caribbean and Central American bands. All 13 tracks are original compositions by Ana Carla Maza, and the seamless integration of diverse genres such as rumba, Cuban salsa, merengue, cumbia, samba, tango, bals, and folklore fully demonstrates her talent as a songwriter. Four of the tracks are self-covers of songs from her previous album.
