This is the long-awaited first album by jazz singer Hiromi Saeki, who is based in New York. Her soaring vocals blend beautifully with the New York sound played by luxurious musicians. The selection of songs, starting with A Night In Tunisia, is always thrilling and never boring, and the album concludes with 'Round Midnight, arranged in 5/4 time. Artist Profile: Hiromi Saeki Born in Kyoto, currently residing in New York. Began playing piano at age 4 and composing at age 7. At the age of 19, she was introduced to Mitsuru Furuya by her mentor, who suggested she take singing lessons to further refine her playing by adding a musical touch, and thus she discovered jazz vocals. While still a student at Doshisha University, she began performing in the Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe area. In 1993, she moved to the United States and participated in the summer school program "Jazz In July," led by Billy Taylor and others. At the recommendation of Sheila Jordan, whom she studied under there, she enrolled in the Jazz Department of the College of the Arts at City College of New York, where she studied jazz under excellent professors including Ron Carter. She graduated in 1996 and obtained her degree. In New York, she gained experience on various stages, including Blue Note and Birdland. She also served as a gospel choir member in a Harlem church for over 10 years and worked as a solo singer. Currently, she travels between Japan and New York every few months and is also focusing on performing in Japan.
