Daniel Lopatin, also known as Oneohtrix Point Never (OPN), is the most important producer. In his own works, he presents exciting visions and sounds with each album, and has also been involved as a producer in turning points and representative works of various artists, including The Weeknd and Moses Sumney. OPN's core project, OPN, is a look back at its origins, a culmination of his work, and at the same time, a cutting-edge new form. This is his fourth album from Warp, "Magic Oneohtrix Point Never." Inspired by the origin of the name OPN, this work is modeled after the experience of listening to a single radio station that starts in the morning, continues through the night, and ends. It begins with morning greetings, the middle section is interspersed with fragments of pop music, and the ending develops into something deeper. But, as is typical of OPN, it is full of errors and a sense of alienation, with samples of old American FM jingles and DJ catchphrases clashing with New Age self-help slogans, creating a dark sense of humor. It moves freely between the musical elements of OPN's past works, such as the development of the sample collage masterpiece "Replica" that deconstructed New Age, the serene melodies of "R Plus Seven," his debut on Warp that brought him widespread recognition, the powerful noise of "Returnal," the conscious approach to pop music in "Garden Of Delete" and "Age Of," and the symphonic structure reminiscent of his work on film scores, and these are strangely integrated under the concept of a fictional radio station. As the world is engulfed in the bizarre situation of a global pandemic, and many people lose their connection to the outside world except through the internet, Lopatin continues to offer sharp critiques of the modern age through his fake radio show, "Magic Oneohtrix Point Never," which plays fake new age music and soft rock. The strikingly impactful artwork was created by Robert Beatty, a longtime friend of Lopatin's from their time in the noise scene. Beatty is known for his psychedelic artwork on albums such as Tame Impala's "Currents" and Kesha's "Rainbow," and this is a collaboration between him and OPN. The domestic CD release includes the bonus track "Ambien1" and a booklet. A limited edition set including a T-shirt will also be released for the first production run. In addition to the regular vinyl edition, a limited edition clear yellow vinyl version will also be released.
