To commemorate the 20th anniversary of Nightmare's on Wax's timeless masterpiece, 'In A Space Outta Sound', a reworked version by UK dub legend Adrian Sherwood, 'In A Space Outta Dub', is set to be released! To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Nightmare's on Wax's iconic album 'In A Space Outta Sound', a reworked version by UK dub legend Adrian Sherwood, 'In A Space Outta Dub', will be released by Warp Records. 'In A Space Outta Sound' reflects both the "origins" and the "present" in the career of George Evelyn, aka Nightmare's on Wax. The original album, released in 2005, was created as an homage to the reggae culture he grew up in West Yorkshire. This formative experience is further explored in the mixtape "Echo45 Sound System," released at the end of 2025. Underlying both works is George Evelyn's unparalleled skill and sensibility, seamlessly blending soul, jazz, and hip-hop with a Jamaican-derived sound, transforming samples into instantly memorable hooks. Tracks like "You Wish" and "Flip Ya Lid" became global hits, resonating across countless scenes. They naturally permeated people's consciousness and are widely recognized as Nightmares on Wax's biggest global hit. While their most commercially successful work, their influence transcends the artist's name, becoming ingrained in the culture itself. These soulful, vibe-filled tracks continue to be cherished as soundtracks that resonate with many people's daily lives. The album's core bass pulsation is further enhanced through new dub work by legendary dub master Adrian Sherwood. At the invitation of George Evelyn, On-U Sound's Sherwood took on the challenge of deconstructing and reconstructing some of the tracks from the original album, and he brilliantly lived up to expectations. While boldly stripping away rhythm with his signature effects, he also recorded new overdubs with key players such as Cyrus Richard (Horace Andy/Dub Assante Band) and Doug Wimbish (Tuckhead/Living Colour). The resulting 8-track 'In A Space Outta Dub' joins the lineage of classic dub works, including Mad Professor's 'No Protection,' which reconstructed Massive Attack's 'Protection.' At the same time, it resonates with Sherwood's own rework works, which have reinterpreted the works of artists such as Primal Scream, Panda Bear & Sonic Boom, and Spoon, and plays a part in a distinguished history. "In A Space Outta Sound" remains a living artifact, and this reissue offers listeners who have engaged with this work for 20 years an opportunity for rediscovery. With its life-affirming songs, genre-crossing sounds, and innovative collaborations, this album remains a definitive work that continues to shape our "inner space" in our daily lives. As the longest-serving artist on Warp Records, George Evelyn has been at the forefront of electronic/soul music for over 30 years. This anniversary project, along with his journey, reaffirms his enduring influence across generations and the timeless value of his work. 01. You Bliss 02. On Purpose 03. Flippin?f Eck 04.
