OPN's unique, fantastical, and surreal sound world emerges. The starting point for "Tranquilizer," meaning tranquilizer, was a chance encounter. Lying in a dentist's chair, feeling the vibrations resonating in his teeth, he happened to look up at the cover of a fluorescent light. A print of a blue sky and palm trees pasted on the gray tiled ceiling?a cheap, artificial paradise. At that moment, OPN asks: What is the sound of this world? What is the sound of this flimsy reality, where the ordinary and the extraordinary coexist in a precarious balance? Furthermore, the incident a few years ago when a massive sample library suddenly disappeared from the internet archive also triggered the creation. Hundreds of classic sample CDs from the 90s and 2000s?sequences, beats, pads, virtual instruments. Sounds that have shaped countless works, from Silent Hill to The X-Files, were swallowed up in an instant. It was an experience of cultural rupture, of the merciless severing of the connections that link the memories of an era. Fortunately, fragments of sound that were almost lost have been rescued and breathed new life into a cultural archive. The artwork, painted by Indiana-based artist Abner Hershberger, is an abstract and organic reconstruction of the North Dakota plains where Abner grew up. Rooted in forgotten materials and rural landscapes, the visuals resonate with the themes of collapse, memory, and craftsmanship of 'Tranquilizer'. Over the past 20 years, OPN has established himself as one of the world's leading experimental electronic music producers and composers, continuing to redefine 21st-century musical expression.
