Product Description Yuul, a versatile creator who weaves together classical masterpieces, hypermodern internet culture, academic theory, and even his own physical desires to create his own unique world and persona through music, releases his 4th album, "Evangelic Girl is a Gun," on Ninja Tune. This album is filled with Yuul's unrestrained, raw emotions, and confronts the idea that a self-destructive identity burns down the canvas of postmodernity. As can be seen from the profile picture created in collaboration with visual artist Vasso Vu, and the worldview of the music video for his first single, filmed by Neil Cragg, Yuul explores the duality of darkness and his role as a "painter" in this work. Through the album's hypnotic melodies, he paints a portrait of a tormented artist trapped in an idol, with Yuul's ethereal vocals performing like an emotional strangulation over dance beats. Influenced by Polish artist Zdzis?aw Beksi?ski, Juul commented, "With this album, I wanted to pay tribute to my life as a painter. To me, Beksi?ski most carefully and beautifully depicts creatures crawling through quiet dystopian landscapes. Painting has the nature of reflecting one's emotions as a means of expression, and it can be violent yet gentle. Moments that pass by in an instant in my life are captured in paint and trapped in time." On "Evangelic Girl is a Gun," Juul adds his own cyborg-like arrangement to Bristol trip-hop and 90s gothic. Production is handled by A.G. Cook, Chris Greatti, Mura Masa, Clams Casino, Fitness, and Kin Leon, who served as co-executive producer on 2023's "softscars." Also, on this album, Juul showcases unprocessed vocals without using autotune, highlighting a fiery authenticity and rawness.
