These decades-old tracks, meticulously restored and remastered at Dubplates & Mastering in Berlin, now boast a clear and dynamic sound, drawing listeners into the world of Bovell's genius production and arrangement skills. The creation of this album began in 2018 when Dennis Bovell visited the General Echo Reggae Disco in Walthamstow, London. Interactions with people he met there sparked a project to unearth his rare recordings. After years of searching for records, selecting tracks, and overcoming challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the album "Sufferer Sounds" is finally complete. As a member of the reggae band Matumbi, he laid the foundation for British reggae and has since produced numerous hit songs. As a producer, he has created many lovers rock masterpieces, including those by Janet Kay, while also leading Linton Kwesi Johnson's dub band. He has also worked with cutting-edge artists such as The Pop Group and The Slits, and has made significant contributions to the development of rock and dub music. He has also been active as a solo artist, releasing experimental works under aliases such as Blackbeard, and has even composed film scores, including the soundtrack for the groundbreaking 1980 film "Babylon." To this day, he continues to create new music and has produced a variety of artists, from the underground Glasgow dance collective Golden Teacher to major pop stars like Joss Stone and Rihanna.
