In the 90s, when the so-called alternative and mixture scenes were sparking, Asian Dub Foundation (ADF) stood out with their outstanding presence and quickly emerged as a darling of the era and an important band on the scene. Rooted in their own roots music and community, they have continued to advocate for freedom and equality with scathing social satire, using exciting rhythms such as bhangra, jungle, and dub. They have gained immense popularity with their songs that pack an astonishing amount of information, including diverse rhythms, melodies, and messages, into one song, and that continue to change rapidly. And now, continuing their journey without stopping, ADF's 30th-anniversary album, "94-Now: Collaborations," has been announced! The ADF story began in the early 90s with music workshops at their spiritual home, Community Music, in East London. This unique background shaped both their sound and their educational aspirations, leading to the establishment of their own organization, ADF Education (ADFED), and their campaigns for those suffering from unfair trials. By the mid-90s, they had established a solid reputation as a live band with their unique and powerful performances. They shared the stage with bands like Rage Against the Machine, Beastie Boys, Radiohead, and Primal Scream, gaining worldwide recognition. On recordings, they have collaborated with Radiohead's Ed O'Brien, Sinead O'Connor, Iggy Pop, Adrian Sherwood, and Public Enemy's Chuck D, among others. Over the past 30 years, ADF has performed over 1,000 live shows, released nine studio albums, and built upon the social and educational activities that gave birth to and sustain this group today. To commemorate the long history of this unique project, ADF is currently on a massive tour of over 60 shows from 2024 to 2025. The newly announced release, "94-Now: Collaborations," includes tracks such as "No Fun" featuring Iggy Pop, "1000 Mirrors" featuring Sinead O'Connor and Ed O'Brien of Radiohead, a Brendan Lynch mix of "Free Satpal Ram" featuring Primal Scream, "Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos" featuring Chuck D of Public Enemy, "Collective Mode" featuring Audio Active from Japan, and "Raj Antique Store" featuring Rikuru Mai and Dry & Heavy, all of which have been remastered and reworked for this 30th-anniversary edition. The domestic CD release will include song-by-song commentary by the artist and a booklet. The band is releasing a 30th-anniversary album and has announced their first Japan tour in 11 years!
