Unleash your inner self with an overwhelming sound experience! Emerging producer Ella Minath releases her new album 'DIA'! Confirmed to be a support act for Caribou on their 2025 EU/UK tour. Colombian producer Ella Minath releases her long-awaited new album 'DIA' on Domino. Following her debut album 'acts of rebellion' released in 2020, this second album, while 'acts of rebellion' deliberately presented a minimalist club sound, combines cutting-edge production and overwhelming soundscapes with her own introspective self-exploration, showcasing her evolution as an artist through a vast soundscape. Having spent three years collecting song fragments while traveling through her native Colombia, Mexico, North America, and Europe, she felt the album was complete at that point. However, upon reflecting on her debut, she realized the lyrics didn't fully express her inner self, and from there, she decided to aim for deeper self-expression. Afterward, she changed her production settings, working in places like the Mojave Desert in California, hotels in Los Angeles, New York, the outskirts of Seattle, Mexico City, and London. Working in various places with different paces of life gave her opportunities to reflect on herself and her life. One night, while working in a cabin in the mountains of Mexico, she discovered the chords that would start the album, which led to the long, rich sound of "ABRIR MONTE," the opening track of "DIA." She commented, "'ABRIR MONTE' is a phrase commonly used in my hometown, referring to clearing a path through dense vegetation. I loved this poetic expression. Making this record was like opening new paths, both inside and out, and it felt like I was venturing deeper into uncharted territory." The new song "BROKEN" also originated from the same chords, featuring bright synthesizers and layered sounds. Ultimately, it develops into an anthemic four-on-the-floor rhythm. The song's theme is acknowledging suffering and finding the strength to overcome it. Ella reflects on her feelings during the creation of this song, saying, "When I started writing this song, I thought there was nothing wrong, but by the time I finished, I realized that wasn't the case." "BROKEN" was released following "COMBAT," which was released before the album's announcement, and is a captivating and immersive song that conveys the importance of not giving up and getting back up. "DIA" is a work shaped through a process of self-discovery, and raises the question of where to go after being broken. Throughout the album, Marta Saloni, who has worked on projects for Bj?rk and Depeche Mode and has been nominated for a Grammy Award, handled the mixing, and Heba Cudry, who has worked on remasters for Bj?rk, Bon Iver, and Ryuichi Sakamoto, handled the mastering, brilliantly fusing Ella's appealing pop accessibility with an experimental approach. This work shows the next phase of Ella's career as a musician and her life, and without clearly defining its direction, it is opening up new territory. 01. ABRIR MONTE 02. BROKEN 03. IDOLS 04.
