A heavyweight who spearheaded UK bass culture, which had a tremendous influence on the 2000s music scene, and who has produced numerous followers, including James Blake, Mara releases his long-awaited original album following the masterpiece "Mara in Cuba"! Titled "Mirrors," this work follows Cuba in its deep exploration of traditional Peruvian culture and music, resulting in the ultimate encounter with his own bass music. Born from repeated visits to Peru in order to immerse himself in Peruvian music, this album skillfully incorporates local Afro-Peruvian percussionists, folk dance tap dancers, and Andean singers into 14 tracks, developing around tempo and flow. From "Cunumicita," a cover of a 1940s Andean folk song that is also the root of cumbia; "Sabateo," in which the footsteps of a master of the Peruvian folk dance zapateo dance dance in a huge dance hall; to "Sound of the River," which features field recordings of the river flowing through the Sacred Valley and the voice of soprano singer and anthropologist Silvia Falc?n, this primitive yet radical dance music is a gift that only Mara could create. The final track of this album, "4 Element," which could be considered the culmination of his career, is a relentless rush of breakbeats where the storm of drumming maintains a perfect balance with pauses and silences.
